An Exciting New Years Surprise (2013)

The Finished Kaff-eine work on our purple gates at The Melbourne Food Depot, Melbourne, Australia

A great way to start the year!

What a suprise when we returned to the Melbourne Food Depot office to find our rear gates had been painted by Kaff-eine, the Melbourne based street artist. Kaff-eine has previously been commisioned to paint inside but this work is totally freestyle. The purple gates have survived being painted due to the uneven surface and the purple colour. Kaffeine took on the challenge and used the purple and other matching colours to create an outstanding mural. All of us at The Melbourne Food Depot feel quite special that our gates were selected as the first mural of 2013. The characters being drawn from Kaff-eines recent trip into rural Victoria.

The images are of a horse and goat rolling around enjoying life, we are yet to name the two characters and are open to suggestions. It is amazing how much expressional detail Kaff-eine can acheive with a couple of dots and a line. So far the response has been positive from neighbours and is more pleasing on the eye that a bunch of tags. As this mural is on the street expect to see it on many of Melbournes street art and paint spotters websites.
