General Malic Acid Description
Colourless crystals with a sour taste which are very soluble in water. Malic acid is found in a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, but the richest source is apples. Malic acid (Food Acid 296) is a naturally occurring compound that plays a role in the complex process of deriving ATP. In the food industry it is used in the manufacture of esters, salts, wine manufacture and as a food flavouring/acid. Malic acid will add a sour element to confectionery. Quite often used in combination with citric acid and tartaric acid. This product is is 100% pure and is suitable for vegans, vegetarians, gluten free and contains no filling or bulking agents.
