Tragacanth gum is a water-soluble carbohydrate gum. These are in the pure crystal form, straight from the sap of the thorny shrub going mainly in Iran. Obtaining these crystals through scaring the stems and root is the first step in manufacturing the powder. These crystals have been used by generations of middle eastern traders to treat a variety of conditions. These include heating and cooling the body and being burnt in religious festivals.
