Liquid Vegetarian Rennet is used for setting milk in cheese making. This small 50ml container is enough to set 250L of milk (200IMC/ml). That is why its packed in such a small amount compared to our standard manufacturing amounts.
Dosage & Instructions:
The maximum dosage rate is 2.0mls per 10L of milk. Before adding to the milk the chymosin needs to be diluted with 10 times its volume of cold boiled water (boiled water left to cool). Then immediately add to the milk and stir for not more than 3 minutes.
Commercially Produced Bottled Milk:
The pasteurisation and cooling process will reduce the effectiveness of our rennet coagulation properties. The addition of calcium chloride, liquid or granules, will reverse this change.
To obtain the maximum shelf like from your vegetarian rennet it should be stored at or below 4 degrees Celsius. The shelf life is generally 12 months but this is only if stored correctly.
We recommend that this product only be shipped using the default express option especially in warmer months. Additional time spent out of its controlled environment leads to decreased activity.
